Resolutions

What is a Resolution?

Resolution (noun): a determination of policy of a corporation by the vote of its board of directors or Legislative body.

Why do we submit a Resolution?

To guide our common mission by requesting action through changing standing practices or requesting actions by our churches or Diocesan groups.

How are resolutions submitted?

Resolutions are submitted in writing (via an online form) and signed by the person(s) who propose it, to the Resolutions Committee at least 40 days before convention. Resolutions are given a number and provided to delegates 30 days before the convention so they can be discussed in churches and delegates are aware of the opinions of the congregation they represent. A resolution that is not published 30 days before convention may be presented in writing to the Secretary of Convention and be brought to the floor for discussion given certain provisions, which can be found in the Rules of Order.
