Book Study:  The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy – Robert P. Jones
In June, the Summer Ministry School and Retreat offered a course to explore white supremacy and Christian nationalism, and there was interest in further exploring the subject this fall with a Zoom book study. The Rev. Canon Kathleen Milligan and the Rev. Jean McCarthy will offer this book study on Wednesday nights for 7 weeks beginning October 2nd, 7:00 – 8:30pm through November 13th. The sessions will be on Zoom. 

The book we are suggesting is “The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy and the Path to a Shared American Future” by Robert P. Jones. We believe that white supremacy is inextricably woven into Christian Nationalism; and Jones’ book is a good place to begin to look at the together.

We expect to meet for seven sessions. The book divides neatly into six, but we expect to begin with a video clip from James Talarico, a Texas legislator who has been teaching about these topics both within and outside the Texas statehouse. The book can be purchased through Amazon, for $16.73 for the hardcover; and $19.99 for paperback. It is also available on Kindle and can be purchased through other booksellers as well.

All are welcome to join this study. You do not need to have attended the Summer Ministry School and Retreat.
