International Development Mini-Grants: Due August 15
It's that time of year when the One World/One Church Commission of our Diocese invites congregations and/or members supported by their congregation to submit a grant with an international development focus or component. The funding for this comes from our diocesan budget and is at least 0.7% of the net disposable diocesan income. These have become known as the International Development Mini-Grants.
The grants received over the last 20 years have represented a diverse set of priorities seeking to end hunger, promote reconciliation and peace, and to provide assistance enabling people to live with a renewed sense of dignity and hope.
Applications are due August 15, 2020. If you have questions, please contact Suzanne Peterson or David Oakland
United Thank Offering Grants
The United Thank Offering will accept applications in two categories, Sustaining Ministries and Innovative Ministries, at two different funding levels through two granting cycles. The criteria for each category are different. Applicants must demonstrate concisely how the project directly supports the recovery effort.
Due to the extreme need in local communities, for this granting cycle, the UTO Board has established two levels of funding in order to help as many applicants as possible: Seed Funding ($0 to $10,000) and Impact Funding ($10,001 to $25,000). Additionally, the UTO Board recognizes that the needs of communities are dire now and will continue, therefore, there will be two grant cycles for 2021 within the focus area. The UTO Board will grant all Ingathering funds received by August 31, 2020 and awarded in October 2020, and the remaining Ingathering will be awarded in April 2021 through a second grant cycle.
Applications due to uto@iowaepiscopal.org by August 3, 2020 for consideration (Each diocese can submit two applications—one for seed-level funding and one for impact level funding).

Beloved Community Rapid-Response Grants
The Presiding Officers' Advisory Group on Becoming Beloved Community Implementation is making funds available for groups working specifically to address the racial disparities laid bare by the coronavirus pandemic and for groups working to respond to racist violence and police reform. Across America, COVID-19 is disproportionately affecting People of Color in terms of health outcomes, access to testing and treatment, safe work environments, and more. At the same time, many recognize the pandemic of ongoing violence directed against black people and other people of color, especially at the hands of law enforcement personnel in communities in the Americas and beyond.
These grants are drawn from funds allocated by General Convention in order to build capacity and increase Episcopal engagement in four primary fields: telling the truth about our churches and race, proclaiming the dream of Beloved Community, practicing Jesus’ way of healing and reconciliation, and repairing the breach in institutions and society. It is appropriate and urgent to expedite the granting of these funds in light of these two pandemics.

First Fridays - Young Adults Zoom Check In
Friday July 10, 7pm
You’re invited to join with other young adults as we engage with the monthly dismantling racism resources offered in the "2020 Vision for Becoming Beloved Community". The 2020 Vision, from the Beloved Community Initiative for Racial Justice, Healing, and Reconciliation in Iowa, was created for action centered on learning as a way to address racism in ourselves and our communities. We’ll meet via Zoom the first Friday of each month (unless it’s a holiday, then we’ll plan for the following Friday) to discuss what we learned and engaged with from the previous month’s resources.
The month of June is focused on Intersectionality. During June, commit to and do one or more of the items listed under each of the headings - Learn, Notice, Engage - on the 2020 Vision June page. At this (our July) meeting, we’ll share what we did and reflect on our learnings and actions.
