Witnessing to the God of Life: A Letter to the Episcopal Church from Bishops United Against Gun Violence
Bishops United Against Gun Violence has issued a letter calling Episcopalians to resist the pandemic gun violence surge by voting for candidates who support sensible gun reforms and ensuring that all citizens have the opportunity to vote. “As Christians, we know that Jesus tells us not to be afraid,” the letter reads. "And as advocates, we know that having a gun in the home in the midst of a pandemic does little to guarantee safety."

International Development Mini-Grants: Due August 15
It's that time of year when the One World/One Church Commission of our Diocese invites congregations and/or members supported by their congregation to submit a grant with an international development focus or component. The funding for this comes from our diocesan budget and is at least 0.7% of the net disposable diocesan income. These have become known as the International Development Mini-Grants.
The grants received over the last 20 years have represented a diverse set of priorities seeking to end hunger, promote reconciliation and peace, and to provide assistance enabling people to live with a renewed sense of dignity and hope.
Applications are due August 15, 2020. If you have questions, please contact Suzanne Peterson or David Oakland
United Thank Offering Grants: Due for diocesan review by Aug. 3
The United Thank Offering will accept applications in two categories, Sustaining Ministries and Innovative Ministries, at two different funding levels through two granting cycles. The criteria for each category are different. Applicants must demonstrate concisely how the project directly supports the recovery effort.
Due to the extreme need in local communities, for this granting cycle, the UTO Board has established two levels of funding in order to help as many applicants as possible: Seed Funding ($0 to $10,000) and Impact Funding ($10,001 to $25,000). Additionally, the UTO Board recognizes that the needs of communities are dire now and will continue, therefore, there will be two grant cycles for 2021 within the focus area. The UTO Board will grant all Ingathering funds received by August 31, 2020 and awarded in October 2020, and the remaining Ingathering will be awarded in April 2021 through a second grant cycle.
Applications due to uto@iowaepiscopal.org by August 3, 2020 for consideration (Each diocese can submit two applications—one for seed-level funding and one for impact level funding).
