New Hire Announcement: Regional Missioner East Region
FROM BISHOP MONNOT:
Dear siblings in Christ,
It is with great joy that I announce that I have called Jay Elmquist to be the Regional Missioner for the East Region of the Diocese of Iowa. Jay comes to us from Northern California, where I first met him during the time that we both served on the bishop’s staff of that diocese. His background includes pastoral and worship leadership in evangelical churches, managing projects and groups for the Sacramento City Unified School District, and serving as the Director of Communications for the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California. Jay is a self-identified “systems guy” whose perspectives and gifts will support and enhance the work of the whole diocese as well as of the eight congregations in his region. He is a Candidate for Holy Orders and will be ordained to the Transitional Diaconate on July 20th of this year. He will begin work in August.
I look forward to welcoming Jay and his husband, John, into the Diocese of Iowa. I anticipate making further announcements about the other two Regional Missioner positions over the next month and a half.
Yours in Christ,
+Betsey
The Rt. Rev. Betsey Monnot, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Iowa
FROM JAY ELMQUIST:
My Minnesota roots are excited to be back in the Midwest. I look forward to working with Bishop Betsey and Canon Meg, the other Regional Missioners, and the people of Iowa as we realize the future of the Episcopal Church here. What a privilege to help folks imagine a vision of what we can be and actualize that vision together. I can’t wait to meet the good folks of Iowa and get to work!
