Digital Signage

 

Digital signage within your church can serve as a flexible and dynamic announcement board for service times, special announcements, outreach programs, bible study times and other need-to-know information.

There are a number of ways to make a TV screen usable as digital signage for your church:

  • Apple TV: How to use it for digital signage

  • Micca Speck G2: a tiny media player for playback of all popular photo, music, and video formats up to 1080p.

  • Some TVs can just load and loop content off a usb stick, but then you have to unload the stick to change content.

  • Wifi TV: Use a TV that comes with Chromecast or Samsung AllShare Play or MiraCast


Group Texting

 
  • GroupMe: Free group messaging, works on every type of device through an app or over SMS.

  • Remind: Designed originally for teachers to contact parents, but able to be used for churches and other nonprofits.

  • Flocknote: built specifically for churches - includes email newsletters and text messaging, analytics and more.

  • Photofy: Free app for combining images and text. It's easy to use and offers a wide variety of fonts.

  • Canva: online platform for creating quality social content pieces (free and paid versions available).

  • Adobe Express Free: create impactful social graphics, web stories and animated videos with Spark’s free graphic design app. 

  • subltepatterns.com: online collection of subtle patterns, perfect for cover photos and other digital designs.

  • imgflip.com: generate memes.

  • giphy.com: online collection of GIFs, easily shareable.

  • piktochart.com: create infographics with easy-to-use templates.

Having a website for your church does not have to be expensive or incredibly complicated. If you are thinking about creating a website for your church or looking to change platforms you use, consider consulting with our diocesan Communications Missioner about what might be the best fit for your needs.

WEBSITE PLATFORMS

  • WordPress: customizable templates, lots of plug-ins, mobile friendly. Can include custom domain name. You can use a site like MintThemes to customize premium WordPress themes.

  • Squarespace: Easy to use, customizable and flexible templates for a contemporary, mobile friendly look. This site is built on Squarespace.

  • Weebly

  • Ekklesia360: specializes in church websites.

  • CloverSites: Specializes in church websites. A large one-time fee and $25 per month includes automatic updates, unlimited storage, pages and media.

  • Google Sites: Free to use, very limited templates and customization.

  • Wix
