New Hire Announcement: Regional Missioner Northwest Region

From Bishop Monnot:

Dear siblings in Christ,

I am absolutely delighted to announce that I have called the Rev. Stephen Benitz to the position of Regional Missioner for the Northwest Region of the Diocese of Iowa. Stephen is well known in this diocese, serving as the rector of St. John’s, Mason City, president of the Standing Committee, and member of the Commission on Ministry, among other responsibilities. While at St. John’s, Stephen has led the congregation in new directions and helped them embrace experimentation and innovation as they reach out to the community of Mason City; this work is exactly the kind of work that he will be facilitating in the congregations of the Northwest Region who will participate with the Regional Mission Initiative.

Stephen will begin his work as Regional Missioner in late September, joining Jay Elmquist of the East Region. I expect to release an announcement about our Southwest Region soon.

Yours in Christ,

+Betsey

The Rt. Rev. Betsey Monnot, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Iowa

From Rev. Stephen Benitz:

Having lived in Iowa for over 25 years, I’ve seen our faith communities, civic communities, and even myself, called to respond to a continually changing reality. I am honored to be afforded the opportunity to work with such a broad group of spirit filled folks as we discern where God’s still voice is inviting us to go next. Here’s to us stepping out of the boat that we might all dance on the water!

ABOUT:

The Diocese of Iowa’s Regional Mission Initiative (RMI) is an immersive program to support and strengthen our lay and clergy leadership in small churches to address the challenges facing our shrinking, rural communities.
